Since its inception, the `Olelo Board of Directors has been seeking effective ways to garner client/user input in Board activities and business. Most recently, the Program Committee invited the president of the Community Television Producers Association to participate in their regular meetings. Although a step in the right direction, the Board believes a better process can be developed that ensures broader perspectives and input from the community `Olelo serves. As a result, the `Olelo Board of Directors is creating the Access Services Advisory Committee.
 

The Access Services Advisory Committee will be made up of five active clients, who are nominated and selected by their peers. The Committee will meet as needed, but not less then once per calendar fiscal quarter. The Committee will design processes for obtaining client input, review proposals to improve services, and provide recommendations for the Board's consideration and review. Decision making for the Access Services Advisory Committee will be made by consensus.
 

The Access Services Advisory Committee is a subcommittee of the Program Committee; and as such, it will include participation from at least one of the Program Committee members. The term of office for the Advisory Committee members is one year. Currently, there is no limit on the number of terms.
 

Eligibility for Nominations:
Nominees must have worked on a production or submitted a program within the last 18 months. A written nomination must be submitted using the `Olelo Access Services Advisory Committee Nomination form. While nominations can be made on behalf of a nominee, the nominee must accept the nomination by signing on the appropriate line of the nomination form.
 

Deadline for Nominations:
Nominations will be accepted in writing until Noon on August 17, 1998. The `Olelo community is encouraged to submit nominations and nominee statements as early as possible to give clients ample opportunity to consider their choices.
 

Nominee Presentations & Statements:
Nominees are invited to share their platforms with their peers, explaining the skills, interests and experiences that would make them the ideal Access Services Advisory Committee member. Nominees may submit a written statement (no more than 100 words) in advance of the election. Typewritten or neatly handwritten statements only, please. Within two days of receiving the written statement it will be posted in the client Resource Room and on the `Olelo Web site (http://www.olelo.org). In addition, time will be set aside prior to voting on August 17 for nominee speeches (up to five minutes long).
 

Voting:
To be eligible to vote, you must have produced or volunteered on a production or submitted a program within the last 18 months. You must be present to vote. Each client will have one ballot to select his or her top five candidates. One ballot per eligible client only.
 

Election Results:
Ballots will be counted by a team made up of staff and clients (not running for the Committee) and will be announced no later than August 21, 1998.

Nominations will be accepted in writing until Noon on August 17, 1998. Voting will be held August 17, 1998 at 6:30 p.m. in the `Olelo classroom immediately following the candidates speeches. Nominees must be present to participate in the election, and eligible voters must also be present to vote.
