ASAC Minutes 7/16/03

                      Attending: Lynette Cruz (ASAC Member), Gary Honda, (Board Member), Linda
                      Colburn (), Michelle Turner (), Mary Roblee (), David Mulinix (), Jeff Garland
                      (Community Producer), Cheryl Kaster (Community ), Laurie Veatch (), James Kanae
                      (). Absent: Caprice Salvador

                      From ASAC Retreat Minutes came up with

                      ASAC Mission Statement: To Preserve, Promote and Perpetuate Olelo

                      To protect and preserve integrity of Olelo as a community resource.

                      A bi-directional channel for communication between the community and Olelo.

                      A convener for community producers to bring forth community issues to Olelo.

                      Goals:

                      To recommend policies and changes for the benefit of the organization as a whole.

                      Advocate for due process and fair treatment of all.

                      To provide a safe environment.

                      Advise on policies and issues of concern.

                      Michelle Turner gave an update report on upcoming ASAC election.

                      Discussed having a potential candidate forum

                      Deadline has been extended to July 23, 2002

                      Will not recommend 7 members to Board

                      Improving and Extending the Election Process

                      Lynette reported she will set up a Community Producer email list – she has set one
                      up but she didn’t get much response – requesting ASAC Chat Line, put on Web,
                      Isync, Mail Out, Island Info, Bulletin Board – announcement of group.

                      Discussed ASAC would sponsor open public forums that could also be video taped.

                      ASAC have Orientation of new ASAC members

                      Dave & Lynette will stay on for one quarter to act as history

 

                      Kealii report on DCCA Statewide PEG Access Plan

                      The Plan has 13 issues

                      Plan will be posted on DCCA’s & Olelo’s Web sites

                      Public Notice @ Olelo , will be at all Olelo satellites centers

                      Written Comments will be accepted deadline, Friday, September 5

                      Hard Copy available on July 17

                      Hearing will be Queen Liliokalani Building, 1390 Miller Street, 4:30-6:00pm

                      Report Volunteer Recognition – Discussed having ASAC develop and present a
                      Volunteer Recognition Award ex: ASAC should present an award for the Waianae
                      Kids. Suggest having a quarterly award for volunteers. ASAC must have to come with
                      criteria. Committee opened it up to ideas from community producers.

                      Jeff volunteered to submit quarterly award for volunteers.

                      Kealii presented new Matrix for ASAC attendance

                      Kealii reported new producers get two new tapes for each program they turn in.

                      Michele reported Open Mic Service – Jim Brewer and Michele Turner were not able to
                      meet. However Oahu Speaks has been changed recording dates to Wed & Sat.

                      Rpt on Mini Studio staff is currently looking at using Feather Pac, include it live to
                      tape.

                      ASAC will have minutes an agenda will be posted week before next meeting
